Fungal diseases of cucumbers than to treat. How to treat cucumbers. White rot of cucumbers

In order to grow a rich crop of cucumbers, you need to know not only the features of the agricultural technology of this plant, but also diseases that can cause irreparable harm to the plant and destroy the entire crop.

Common Cucumber Diseases

What diseases are most common? Fighting cucumber diseases involves starting to find out the cause, eliminating it, and only then proceed to treat the plants. To prevent the death of all plantings and preserve the future crop, one should learn to determine the presence of the first signs of damage, learn to deal with infectious processes and pest invasions. You can also plant such varieties of cucumber culture, the main advantage of which is resistance to infectious processes. Often there are diseases such as:

  • Anthracnose
  • Ascochitosis;
  • White rot;
  • Gray rot;
  • Powdery Mildew;
  • False dew;
  • Bacteriosis.

When developing the first signs of such diseases, it is recommended to timely process the cucumber bush in order to prevent the death of the crop in the future. Chemical fungicides are used for treatment, folk remedies are also common.

Powdery mildew

The incubation period is 3-5 days. It spreads in a damp, warm climate, threatening all regions where the crop is grown. Outbreaks of harmful dew on cucumbers are usually observed 3-4 days after rains. For the growth of condias, the optimum temperature is 16-22 C and high humidity. Active spore formation occurs at low relative humidity, an abundance of light.

Methods for controlling powdery mildew of cucumber

Recall folk remedies for protecting cucumber from powdery mildew:

  • Whey (reverse) in a ratio of 1:10, sheet processing to form a protective film, inhibiting the spread of fungus.
  • Soap solution acts similarly - protects the surface of the sheet from the introduction of the pathogen.
  • The three-day cowberry infusion also has some fungicidal activity. Use 1 kg of manure: 10 l of water.
  • Nettle, tobacco are used to prevent - infusion or decoction is used for spraying before the start of the bush damage.
  • As soon as you notice the first signs of powdery mildew, immediately spray the plants with fungicides, such as topsin. Or treat them with the TOPAZ solution, for the preparation of which mix 2 ml. drug with 10 liters of warm water. Spraying is carried out in calm, dry weather, both for the prevention of the disease, and at the first signs of its appearance.
  • Good results in the fight against powdery mildew are obtained by treating plants with the HOM preparation (a solution of copper oxychloride). To prepare the solution, take 40 g of powder and dilute it in 10 liters of water. Spray the plants, spending a liter of the resulting solution per 10 square meters.

Ascochitosis

One of the most dangerous diseases of cucumbers, attacking both seedlings and adult plants. Also affects watermelon, melon and pumpkin. Moreover, plants in a greenhouse and open ground are equally affected. Weak plants die quickly. Light gray spots form along the edges of the leaves, gradually spreading over the entire area of the leaf. Black blotches appear on them - the bodies of the fungus with spores. Small whitish-brown spots form on the stalk, shoots and neck of the root. With a secondary bacterial lesion, gum (exudate) is released. Fruits blacken and mummify or become covered with a dense network of black dots.

It is most actively manifested during the period of fruiting. The disease is contagious. The fungus for a long time can be in a state of suspended animation in the soil and on the stems. Carried with organic debris, through the air and sometimes found in infected seeds. Affected fruits are not edible. A plant affected by ascochitosis in the last stage is difficult to heal and, as a rule, dies completely

Methods of combating cucumber ascochitosis

  1. Avoid temperature fluctuations and cold watering.
  2. The use of seeds from proven producers, processed accordingly.
  3. Annual steaming and fumigation of the soil, disinfection of the greenhouse with a 2-5% formalin solution (liquid flow 1 l per 1 sq. M).
  4. Spraying with Bordeaux 1% liquid, copper sulfate (5 g per 10 l of water) with the addition of urea (10 g per 10 l of water).
  5. To eliminate the disease on the stem, it is coated with copper-chalk powder (a mixture of copper sulfate and chalk 1: 1).

Downy mildew - peronosporosis

Perenosporosis, better known as downy mildew, is a common fungal disease of cucumbers that most often affects this crop and is dangerous to the crop. If measures are not taken, then the plants may die completely. When the disease manifests itself, green oily spots appear on the leaves of the cucumbers, which gradually capture the entire large area, leading to damage to the plant tissues. The leaves turn brown as after a burn, after 2-3 days they completely dry out. The optimal conditions for the development of these pathogenic organisms are: sharp temperature jumps in day and night temperatures, as well as rain and watering with cold water.

Although downy mildew does not affect the fruit, dried leaves, which are a source of nutrition, provoke the drying of the lashes completely. This leads to underdevelopment of the fruit, decrease and death of productivity. Fruits, if they ripen, the taste and appearance leave much to be desired. Early ripe cucumbers are more protected from defeat by this disease, since the harvest takes place before night temperatures drop.

Methods of dealing with downy mildew of cucumber

Disputes are able to maintain their dangerous vital activity in the soil for a long time, so it is very difficult to deal with them. If peronosporosis or downy mildew has appeared on cucumbers, then control measures should include the use of certain preparations containing copper (Bordeaux liquid, Ridomil Gold, Oksikhom). These funds are effective as a prophylactic.

If cucumbers are affected by downy mildew, then the treatment is carried out with the Rizoplan preparation. It is based on living cells of certain bacteria. They are absolutely harmless to humans, but fatal to the spores of downy mildew. The drug also does not accumulate in the soil, but decomposes immediately.

In addition to traditional drugs, it is possible to apply milk powdery mildew on cucumbers and a folk remedy - milk serum. She is sprayed with leaves.

Anthracnose

Anthracnose of cucumbers is one of the most dangerous diseases of such a garden crop, which has received total distribution in many countries. Representing a fungal disease, copperfish (another name for anthracnose) affects the plant completely. On the stems it appears brown spots, which, "eating" the living tissue of vegetable culture, simply lead to its breaking. Leaves are affected by spots of yellowish color, which rapidly increase in size; as a result, the fabric dries and falls out, forming slit-like openings on the leaves. The next object anthracnose of cucumbers directly selects the fruits; on them, the disease manifests itself in small, fast-growing pink colored pads that rapidly merge into one whole, continuous ulcer. The mycelium of the fungi penetrates deep into the greenhouse rather deep: by 3-5 mm. Cucumbers lose their presentation and become unusable.

Anthracnose of cucumbers - a disease that acquires its greatest activity with high humidity; dew and rain, as well as plus temperature from 4 to 30 degrees, are the most comfortable conditions for its distribution. The incubation period lasts from 4 to 7 days. At a temperature of + 20-25 degrees, the ripening period of the fungus is reduced and is three days.

Methods of dealing with cucumber anthracnose

Seeds before sowing are recommended to be treated with TMTD fungicide per 1 kg - 4 grams of the drug. This operation can be performed 2-3 weeks before sowing. The action of the treating agent extends throughout the growing season and consists in slowing down and stopping the process of cell division and nuclei of pathogenic fungi located in the plant and soil. Before sowing, seeds are also recommended to be soaked in a solution of the “Immunocytophyte” biostimulator. Its action has a preventive meaning, forms a high resistance to various diseases in plants (including fungal diseases), stimulates the active growth of the culture and the passage of various biological processes in it.

Cucumber bacteriosis is a very common disease. It has a very negative effect on the growth of cucumbers. First of all, cotyledons are affected, small ulcers appear on them. Brownish spots appear on the leaves. The disease develops very quickly with sudden changes in temperature. The main sources of this virus are seeds and various plant debris.

Methods for controlling cucumber bacteriosis

Affected leaves and fruits must be plucked from the plant and destroyed. Large areas of the lesion are treated with a solution of Bordeaux mixture concentration of 1%.

Gray rot of cucumbers

Gray rot is a bacterial disease of cucumbers. The disease is widespread. It affects all plant organs. At the branching of the stem, at the root neck, on the broken parts of the plant, vague, slimy spots appear, covered with a gray bloom of sporulation.

Due to the constant infection of neighboring plants with spores, there is a real threat of significant yield loss.

Methods of dealing with the gray rot of cucumber

  • adherence to culture and agricultural technology;
  • proper and timely disinfection of the greenhouse;
  • treatment of plants for preventive purposes;
  • when the disease appears, stop watering;
  • constant pruning of affected parts;
  • powder painful composition: 1 glass of chalk, 1 teaspoon of copper sulfate, 1 glass of wood ash.
  • with the intensification of the disease, plants must be treated with permitted fungicides. To do this, you can use "Hom", "Barrier", "Rovral" or "Bayleton".

White rot of cucumbers

The causative agent of white rot of cucumbers is a mushroom that infects the roots, the lower part of the stems, petioles of the leaves and fruits. A white flaky coating forms on the affected parts of the plant, on which black dots subsequently appear.

The tissue areas on which the fungus develops become soft and mucilage, the plant withers, then dies. Zelentsy become infected very quickly in contact with a diseased area of the stem. With a strong development of the disease, the yield of cucumbers (greens) sharply decreases.

The development of the disease is promoted by low temperature with high humidity, thickening of plantings, untimely pruning of sick and dying leaves.

Methods of dealing with the white rot of cucumber

1) the alternation of crops in greenhouses and ridges;
  2) rubbing with a piece of cotton wool or gauze sections of the stem with the initial signs of illness that appeared, followed by dusting with crushed coal or chalk; cutting out diseased tissue with the capture of part of the healthy;
  3) evening watering of plants with warm water;
  4) the use of foliar top dressing (1 g of zinc sulfate, 2 g of copper sulfate and 10 g of urea per 10 l of water);
  5) cleaning of all plant residues with the upper 2 -3-cm layer of soil;
6) reduction of air humidity in the greenhouse by periodic ventilation in order to stop the development of the disease; 7) cultivation of varieties resistant to the disease (Harvest 86) and with medium resistance

Recognizing cucumber diseases according to description and photosand choosing the right ones treatment methods and preventive measures, you can get a big crop and harvest it until the fall. If you detect the disease at the initial stage, then it will be much easier to fight with it, and it will bring less harm. The article describes the symptoms of often striking disease cucumbers with photos and control methods with them.

Powdery mildew

Signs

The disease appears on the leaves in the form of medium-sized spots of white color. Powdery coating gradually spreads over the entire surface of the leaf. The affected plant begins to turn yellow and fade.

These are symptoms of powdery mildew - a fungal disease of cucumbers, due to the spread of which the vegetable ceases to bear fruit.

Causes of occurrence

These are fungi that spend the winter on organic matter. Cloudy and cold weather contributes to their spread. When the temperature is kept at an average of + 25 degrees all day, the disease does not occur. This is the most common problem that appears on cucumbers when they are too often fertilized with nitrogen fertilizers and watered not regularly or little.

Preventive measures

The first way to avoid the appearance of powdery coating on cucumbers is a correct crop rotation. Plants cannot be planted in the same place for several years in a row. Basic requirements to avoid infection:

  • in the same place, a cucumber can grow only once every 4 years;
  • it is important to free the beds from the fruits and from the remains of the plant in time;
  • after harvesting, grown in greenhouses, it is necessary to immediately disinfect, for example, using formalin solution for these purposes;
  • control the temperature, if necessary, cover the bushes, so that the indicator is kept at + 23_ +25 degrees;
  • for irrigation, you need to take only warm water;
  • choose hybrid varieties resistant to powdery mildew for breeding.

Treatment methods

In order to defeat powdery mildew, the plant is sprayed with fungicides, for example, topsin. This should be done as soon as the first signs of the disease are noticed:

The drug "Topaz".

  • 2 ml of the drug
  • for 10 liters of water.
  • mix and process the plant. This must be done in calm, warm weather without strong winds. It can also be used for prevention.

"Home" (copper oxychloride). Use

  • 40 g of copper oxychloride powder;
  • 10 liters of water.

For 10 square meters of land use a liter of this solution, which is sprayed with plants.

Colloidal sulfur. It is taken from the calculation

  • 20 g of colloidal sulfur;
  • 10 liters of water.

If the treatment will be carried out on open ground, or 40 g for the same amount of water, if the greenhouse is processed. They process plants from two sides in cloudy weather.

If you do not want to use chemical agents, you can use alternative methods:

  • Mix 1 kg of mullein;
  • 3 l of water;
  • to defend 3 days;
  • after carefully strain;
  • add another 3 liters of water;
  • spray the plants.

Once every 7 days, you can spray the plants with a mixture of:

  • 1 liter of sour milk;
  • 10 l of water;
  • 50 g of soda;
  • 50 g is the same amount of laundry soap.

Mix all the ingredients and spray the cucumbers once a week.

Peronosporosis - downy mildew

Signs

This disease is also called downy mildew, because the symptoms are quite similar. The spots that hit the plant with this disease have a slightly yellowish color.

The shoots turn brown and dry out. The danger of the disease is that it can manifest itself at any stage of plant development.

Why does the disease occur?

The main reason is watering with low temperature, as well as the appearance of a fungus with high humidity.

Preventive measures

Everything is simple here:

  • crop rotation must be observed;
  • planting plants at the right distance;
  • pick fruits on time;
  • use warm water for irrigation.

Treatment methods

When the disease has just begun to manifest, it is worth stopping watering and feeding. For treatment, cucumbers process:

  • a warm solution of polycarbacin;
  • copper oxychloride;
  • bordeaux liquid (100 g of copper sulfate and freshly slaked lime are mixed with 10 l of warm water.

Of the chemicals there are good remedies:

  • The Ordan.
  • Ridomil.

The main requirement is to maintain a temperature of +25 degrees in the greenhouse after spraying. When growing in open ground, it is worth covering the bushes with a film at night.

For prevention, you can use:

  • whey;
  • kefir with iodine (per liter 1 drop);
  • sprinkle beds with ash.

Kladosporioz - brown olive spotting

Signs

This disease has a second name that fully describes its manifestation - brown olive spotting. Accordingly, green or olive spots appear on the plant, which darken and increase in size by 3 days of damage. It's mushroom leaf cucumber disease, which is spreading very rapidly.

Ideal conditions for distribution are sudden changes in air temperature and excessive humidity. Often the disease occurs already at the end of the growing season, when the nights become cool. In the rain or from watering, the infection spreads as much as possible throughout the plants and on the ground.

Why arises

Spores of the fungus, which are the causative agents and carriers of this disease, wintering on the remains of plants.

Prevention

Preventive methods that will help prevent the defeat of cladosporiosis:

  • comply with crop rotation principles;
  • water only with warm water, ventilate the greenhouses;
  • observe cleanliness and order on the beds.

Treatment methods

  • at the first manifestations of the disease, it is necessary to stop watering the plants for several days;
  • you should definitely control the air temperature in the greenhouse (at least 20 degrees);
  • for treatment by spraying take:
    • bordeaux liquid 1% solution
    • copper chloride 0.4% solution
    • "Fundazole".

You can also use
• 20 g Oksikhom
  • 10 liters of warm water.

Sclerotinia - white rot

Signs

White bodies appear on the affected areas, which subsequently darken.

Then the leaves, stems and even fruits are covered with a whitish bloom, due to which they mucilage, soften and rot.

Why arises

Sclerotia - fungi wintering in the soil are the main cause of the disease, and they spread in conditions of high humidity of the soil and air.

Prevention

For prevention, all methods that will help in the fight against other diseases are suitable:

  • proper crop rotation;
  • cleaning of beds from plant residues;
  • not a thickening of crops of cucumbers.

Treatment methods

Infected plant parts should be cut to healthy tissue immediately so that the fungus does not continue to infect other cucumbers. Slicing areas are carefully treated with lime or charcoal. With a large lesion, the entire plant should be removed.

You can feed the plant with a nutrient solution:

  • 10 g of urea;
  • 1 g of zinc sulfate;
  • 1 g of copper sulfate.
  • 10 liters of water.

Gray rot

Signs

On the fruits, at the place of attachment of the flower to the stem, a plaque of gray color appears, then it is covered with a fluff in the same place.

Why arises

The disease spreads due to excessive watering and low ambient temperature.

Prevention

  • bushes should be planted only once every 4 years in one place;
  • plant the bush at the right distance from one another;
  • properly care and use preventive measures;
  • after harvest, process the landing site.

Treatment methods

  1. 2-3 days do not water the cucumbers;
  2. ventilate the greenhouse;
  3. destroy the affected areas;
  4. with a large lesion, the entire plant is removed and burned;
  5. thin out plants, remove empty flowers and cut off extra shoots so that the plant can fully develop;
  6. in places of cuts you need to apply copper-chalk powder, ash or a mixture of ash and chalk, one glass each, adding a teaspoon of copper sulfate.

Of the preparations for spraying use:

  • Trichodermin;
  • "Fitosporin";
  • Home
  • "Haunted."

Diluted according to the instructions.

Root rot

Signs

The roots become brown in color, dry and die off, then the root neck, stem, dries out and thins, due to which the whole plant suffers.

Why arises

The disease manifests itself due to:

  • watering with cold water;
  • due to the thickened landings;
  • sudden changes in temperature;
  • when the seeds were planted deep in the soil.

Important! The disease persists in soil and plant debris.

Prevention

So that the roots do not rot, you should:

  • observe crop rotation;
  • use warm water for irrigation;
  • make sure that the stalks are not too high on the ground;
  • in the greenhouse to control the air temperature, to insulate the bed at night with covering material during cooling.

Treatment methods

When the roots are affected by rot, the following measures should be taken urgently:

  1. from the stems of the plant it is necessary to remove the earth to the maximum;
  2. for processing it is worth using a disinfectant solution (2 tsp. of blue vitriol and 6 tbsp. l of lime or ash per liter of water);
  3. dust the root system and the stem with ash or chalk, dry well;
  4. after the roots have completely dried, cover them with earth;
  5. dig up and burn the affected bushes.

Anthracosis or coppers

Signs

Many brown spots appear on the leaves and stems of the plant, the fruits are covered with wet ulcers, the leaves dry - these are symptoms of anthracosis infection.

Why arises

  • The cause of the disease may be infected seeds that were used for planting. Perhaps the seeds were collected from an infected plant. Or cucumbers were planted in the place where the fungus was preserved.
  • Another reason may be that the plant is watered with water at too low a temperature or significant temperature changes.

Prevention

The measures by which the spread of the disease will be stopped are the observance of the principles of crop rotation and maintaining order in the beds.

Treatment methods

To defeat anthracnose, you must:

  • before harvesting, spray the plants with 1% Bordeaux liquid once a week;
  • treat diseased plants with a 0.5% solution of copper sulfate, and then sprinkle with lime or charcoal.

Fusarium wilt

Cucumbers in greenhouses and greenhouses are most susceptible to Fusarium wilt.

Signs

Individual leaves begin to fade, then shoots, and then the root necks rot.

Why arises

Humidity is the root cause of the development of this disease.

The causative agent of the disease is preserved in the seeds and soil, which manifests itself when the plant begins to bear fruit. First, several leaves wither, and ends with the fact that the whole plant withers and dies.

Preventive measures

  • It is necessary to process the seeds before planting in the ground.
  • Soil is also carefully treated with a solution of Fitosporin or Trichodermin.
  • This must be done 7 days before the survival of seeds or seedlings.
  • A good preventive measure is to improve the land with high-quality compost.

Mosaic field

Signs

Aphids carry a disease called field mosaic. It is so named because the leaves acquire a yellow-green color in the form of a mosaic.

After the defeat, they wrap up, dry out and fall away. The whole plant suffers, which at the first lowering of temperature stops in development and dies.

Preventive measures

Mosaic virus hibernates in weeds. Therefore, the best preventive measure is the thorough cleaning of weed grass.

Treatment methods

White and green speckled mosaic

Signs

The disease manifests itself as white or slightly yellow spots on the leaf, which subsequently merge and become white, only veins in the plant remain green. Due to the defeat, the plant slows down growth, hollows appear on the fruits, a large number of empty flowers appear. This kind of mosaic can be transmitted through infected seeds, and can also be stored in soil and plant debris.

Causes of occurrence

The provocateur of the manifestation of the disease is the rapid rise in temperature in greenhouses from + 20 ° C to 30 ° C and above, especially in dense plantings.

Preventive measures

  • proper care of cucumber bushes;
  • before planting, the seeds must be warmed up and pickled. proper planting of bushes;
  • timely cleaning of infected shoots or plants, they must be burned;
  • fight against aphids;
  • use warm water for irrigation
  • fight weeds.

Treatment methods

  • treatment with a serum solution.

Why do cucumber leaves turn yellow?

There are several reasons:

  1. The first of them is simple and independent of the person - the plant is cold. Very often, cucumbers suffer from a sudden temperature drop. A simple warming of plants at night will help to solve this problem. They can be covered with a film of sludge or other covering material.
  2. The second problem is a lack of potassium. You can deal with it in several ways:

Using an infusion of ash for spraying. To do this, take:

  • 3 tbsp. l ash;
  • 1 liter of warm water and insist 2 days.

Top dressing with onion peel infusion. In a metal container mix:

  • 10 l of water
  • 50 grams of onion peel (2 tbsp. L.)

All this boils and after cooling, a plant is watered under a bush with a slightly warm solution. Use 1 liter of infusion on 1 bush.

The fight against diseases and pests of cucumbers is one of the main concerns of summer residents who practice growing this vegetable on their own site. Our material today is dedicated to this topic.

More than 70% of summer residents who are engaged in vegetable gardens on the land, grow cucumbers and other popular crops. Site selection, seed preparation, soil fertilization and long-term care - this is just a small list of those concerns that are necessary to obtain high results at the end of the season. But all of them can be crossed out at one time, and on the cucumber bushes on the bed, on the net in the open ground or on the trellis in the greenhouse there will be no long-awaited fruits or their quality will be very spoiled. Perhaps this is if the culture is attacked by pests, or it will be infected with some diseases. Naturally, reluctance to lose crops is very reluctant, especially at the moment when the cucumbers began to bloom and showed an ovary. Therefore, extreme measures should be taken and fight for your rights to delicious and fragrant fruits that are needed for fresh salads or canning.

Disease and Pest Prevention

Even at that moment, when you just thought about planting this crop at the dacha this season, you should at the same time envisage preventive measures that will not only help save cucumbers from pests and diseases, but can also prevent them. A small list of requirements, which you will not spend so much time on, will save not only the plants and the quantity of the crop, but also its quality, especially if you are engaged in varietal crops.

  • Planting in the soil requires only high-quality seeds that have been prepared and disinfected.
  • Sow prepared seeds only in well-warmed soil. The minimum temperature at a depth of 8-10 cm should be at least + 12 + 14 ° C.
  • It is customary to plant cucumbers only in high-quality soil, clean, loose, seasoned with fertilizers, fertile.
  • In order for the bushes to suffer less from various diseases, it is necessary to choose varieties that have resistance to them.
  • It is imperative to remove all plant debris from the garden, regardless of which crop they belong to. It will be most correct to burn them outside the country house.
  • Do not forget about weeding, because weeds not only interfere with the growth and ripening of cucumbers, but also are carriers of many infections.
  • You should be very careful with planting and care, observe crop rotation.
  • It is absolutely necessary to destroy diseased plants to the maximum near the bed, and also to catch and destroy pests that only appear in the planting area.
  • It is also important that the soil is properly fertilized, the application rate and frequency, as well as soil disinfection, if cucumbers are grown in a greenhouse.

Remember, timely prevention and thereby preserving the crop is much easier than constantly treating plants and spending time trying to get rid of pests in vain.

The fight against cucumber diseases

Powdery mildew

This is the most common disease, and not only of cucumbers, but also of many other cultures. It affects the deciduous part of the plant, a little less often the signs can be found on the stems and petioles, even less - on the fruits. A cucumber appears on the top of the leaf, a small white spot that gradually covers the entire leaf, and then the whole plant. Over time, whole lashes that are already painted brown are falling from the common bush. The plant dies little by little, and if it continues to grow in a diseased state, the quality of the fruit noticeably decreases, and the quantity decreases.

This disease is promoted by increased humidity and constant temperature changes, planting density, weeds inside the beds. It also develops excellently when watering with cold water, due to winds and drafts, as well as if summer residents choose the same place for annual planting. The disease remains in the soil, on weeds, plantain, as well as on affected plants remaining in the garden in winter.

Disease control

There are many ways to deal with this disease of culture:

  • Only strong and resistant varieties and hybrids should be planted;
  • At the first signs of the disease, the affected parts of the plant are cut off and disinfected or burned;
  • If the bush continues to hurt, it is treated with ground sulfur powder (about 25-30 g per 10 m2 of planting) or colloidal sulfur solution (0.3% sulfur, 25-30 g per bucket of water);
  • Mullein spraying is also considered effective;
  • So that the disease does not affect the culture in the next season, it is necessary to get rid of plant debris and conduct a deep dig of the soil of the bed;
  • If powdery mildew has only been seen on cucumbers, it is necessary to increase the norms of fertilizing with potassium;
  • If the disease continues to spread and endanger the entire garden, you can use poisonous chemicals - Topaz or Oksikhom, strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Peronosporosis (downy mildew)

This disease easily destroys whole cucumber fields, if you do not pay attention in time and help the culture. Peronosporosis is manifested by yellow-green spots with a light green bloom, which immediately attack the upper parts of the leaf. Spots can be of various shapes, they quickly spread to all plants, forming a purple coating on the bottom of the leaves. Most often, the disease manifests itself in mid-July (in greenhouses and in June) and quickly affects not only one plant, but also all neighboring plantings.

Powdery mildew of cucumbers spreads due to condensation, high humidity, temperature changes at night and day, due to cold watering, morning cold dew and fog. It spreads very quickly, as it is even carried by the wind.

Fight against peronosporosis

  • Processing of seeds before planting, heating and disinfection with a solution of potassium permanganate;
  • Planting occurs only in warm and healthy soil; overmoistening is not allowed. Watering young plants only with heated water, mandatory top dressing at all stages of crop cultivation;
  • If the disease is already present on the bed, the plants are treated with a milk solution (1: 9 with the addition of 10 drops of iodine for every 10 l), as well, with a urea solution (not more than 1 g per 1 liter of water);
  • It is possible to carry out treatment with a solution of Bordeaux mixture;
  • If the disease was noticed in the garden, we recommend about five years not to plant cucumbers in this place;
  • If it is not possible to cope with peronosporosis, we advise you to treat the cucumber bushes with chemistry.

White rot

This disease spreads quickly throughout the plant, covering the foliage, stems, antennae, and even flowering and ovary. All parts of the plant are covered with a kind of mucus and plaque.

White rot feels good in greenhouses, where increased air humidity, air congestion, high plant density, and also temperature differences are possible. Remember that pathogens remain in the soil for a long time.

Disease control

  • First of all, they level agricultural machinery to the proper level, also, balance humidity and temperature, make plantings more rare and without weeds in the garden;
  • Sick parts of plants are carefully cut and burned outside the country, while the wounds after the cut are dusted with lime or ash;
  • A complete disinfection of the greenhouse or soil near the bed is carried out, plants are also fed (2 g of copper sulfate and 10 g of urea per bucket of water, spraying consumption - 1 liter per 10 m2).

Root rot

Root rot can affect seedlings and even adult plants, regardless of the place of planting. A part of the root dies off at the bush, the entire root system and neck of the plant begin to become diseased, the stalk becomes thin, and the plant slowly dies. Root rot “burns” the root, and the stalk becomes rotten.

The disease spreads due to improper sowing (poor-quality seeds, cold soil), due to cold watering, heavy soil, high humidity, temperature fluctuations. Infection can remain for a long time in the soil of the garden and on the remnants of diseased cucumber bushes.

Disease control

  • Watering only with warm water, not under the root;
  • Processing the bottom of the bush, cleaned from soil, with chalk or fresh sawdust, sand or peat;
  • Normalization of temperature and humidity of the environment, timely harvesting of weeds;
  • If the plant is sick, its affected parts should be removed from the garden. If the bush began to wither, it should be completely removed from the territory of the dacha;
  • Slices should be dusted, sanitized soil, watering temporarily moderate, dusting the beds (at any place of planting) with dry bleach (about 150-200 g per square meter of beds, and be sure to cover them with a rake);
  • After the detection of the disease and the measures taken - cleaning sick plants from the beds and disinfecting the soil - all boxes, trellises, stretch marks, tools, etc. should be washed with powder.

Anthracnose

The disease manifests itself in large, round spots of yellow-brown color on the cotyledons and deciduous part of the plant, due to increased humidity the plant becomes covered with a pink bloom. Plaque spreads over the plant, concentrates in some places, forms small sores and kills cucumber bushes. They quickly darken, and the fruits shrink. The strength of the disease grows with increased humidity, dew and rain, anthracnose quickly spreads to the root system and destroys the plant. After this, the infection can be transmitted with plant debris and seeds.

Disease control

  • Only healthy seeds need to be sown and only in well-prepared, warm soil;
  • Each year, quality cultivate the soil, destroy plant debris and weeds, properly change crops;
  • If you find a disease, we advise you to immediately treat the plants with a Bordeaux mixture (4-5 days before harvesting with a weekly frequency) or with a suspension of bleach (35-40 g per bucket of water, 20 days before harvesting with a frequency of 10 days) )

Cladosporiosis (olive spotting)

This disease affects the fruits of the cucumber and only in rare cases the stem and leaf part. They become covered with small, but numerous watery spots that grow and become hard. At this moment, the skin crackes, the fetus becomes curved, the leaves are deformed, the ovaries die.

Olive spotting spreads through the air, can infect plantings during rain or when watering.

Fighting Olive Spotting

  • Try to choose disease-resistant varieties for planting;
  • If the cucumber is grown in a greenhouse, reduce environmental humidity;
  • Treat the plants with Bordeaux mixture, its 15% solution, as a prophylaxis;
  • Be sure to fertilize with potassium sulfate.

Pest Control

Gourd aphids

To meet melon aphids on a cucumber is not a problem. Small insects that destroy everything in their path are located on the bottom of the leaf, attacking flowers, ovaries and fruits. During its vigorous activity and propagation, leaves fall off the plant, the flowers wither, the yield drops sharply. If, during the aphid attack period, humid weather is observed, the plants often cannot be saved at all.

Fighting gourds

  • It is required to remove plant residues from the site in time, try to destroy weeds;
  • It is also necessary to observe the change of crops, dig the soil in the autumn, disinfect the soil;
  • If aphid has already appeared on plants, spray with fermented grass (insist 1 kg of grass all day in a bucket of water), or spray with a solution of ash (200 g of ash and 50 g of planed soap per 10 l of water);
  • Thorough colonies of gourds of aphids from the cucumber are removed by Inta-Vir according to the instructions.

Spider mite

A spider mite lives on the underside of a cucumber leaf and feeds on its greenery. A small sucking insect of red-green color is very dangerous for cucumber bushes, especially in greenhouses. Damaging the plant and braiding the leaves with a small cobweb, the tick kills entire beds, especially in hot weather, when the number of individuals increases significantly.

Fight against spider mites

  • The first thing to remember is the proper moisture of the soil and, if for many diseases or pests, waterlogged soil is favorable, then for the spider mite, the element is overdried;
  • Be sure to clean the soil in greenhouses and disinfect;
  • An infusion of garlic or onion (200 g of husk per 10 l of water) and periodic spraying 4-5 times for the whole season copes quite well with tick colonies;
  • Also, you should constantly monitor the cleanliness of the beds, the ambient temperature (if the cucumber is grown in a greenhouse);
  • To destroy the spider mite on cucumber bushes in a natural way, you can plant dill nearby, the flowering of which attracts ladybirds - the enemies of many plant pests.

Ants

On the one hand, ants are useful for summer cottages, but on the other hand, they dig many underground passages, precipitate some plants, and also lead aphids to plants.

Insect control

  • You can fight ants with the help of special traps - bottles with sweet syrup;
  • It is required more often to loosen the soil in the beds of cucumbers;
  • If you notice ant nests, they are dug up and filled with kerosene;
  • It is possible to remove ants by dusting the soil with slaked lime or ash, as well as pouring boiling water over their nests.

Slug

The main vital activity of slugs occurs at night, when they, not being afraid of daylight, eat cucumber greens and spoil the fruits, eating the flesh. Also, slugs spoil crop quality with traces of mucus and dark droppings.

Slug fighting

  • You can fight slugs in cucumber plantations by polluting the soil with ash, slaked lime, constantly digging the soil;
  • It is imperative to monitor the cleanliness of the site and the harvesting of plant residues;
  • A good method for combating slugs is considered to be a layout over a section of special shelters, under which slugs will be collected in the morning (burdocks, rags, boards, pieces of cardboard). You can also always treat the beds with Metaldehyde.

Whitefly

A prolific insect of very small size, which moves quickly through the air, but loves to produce larvae on the lower part of the leaves of the cucumber. The larvae are voracious and constantly suck plant juice, thereby causing the development of soot fungus on the leafy part and inhibiting the plants. It is very difficult to deal with whiteflies, especially in greenhouses.

Pest Control

  • It is difficult to breed a whitefly due to its high fecundity, but the methods of controlling it are quite simple. They consist in spraying or rinsing insect larvae from the leaves of the plant. Next, loosen the soil a little on the bed and sprinkle it with humus or peat;
  • Fighting with whiteflies is also possible with the help of tobacco, which is planted around the perimeter of the cucumber beds. When a whitefly gathers on a plant, it is treated with Inta-Vir.

Causes of diseases on cucumbers

  • Thorough disinfection of the earth and the processing of material by Trichodermin (5 g per 1 kg) will not hurt.
  • Deep excavation of beds, scrupulous destruction of plant residues, the systematic application of potassium fertilizers will also not be superfluous for prevention.
  • So that diseases of cucumbers whose photos are in the article do not interfere with rooting and growth, it is worth giving preference to stable varieties.
  • To prevent the appearance of fusarium, it is necessary to regularly ventilate the greenhouse and calcine or freeze the soil before sowing or planting seedlings. In addition, it is recommended to sterilize with alcohol tools before work - used knives and garter material).
  • The combined use of such drugs is quite effective:

Due to the disease, cucumbers in the greenhouse are tied up and develop poorly, often acquire a mosaic color and are deformed, but most often fade. The mosaic virus negatively affects the whole plant as a whole, its growth slows down. The stems of the affected plant often crack.

Cucumber viral diseases

When plants wilt from root rot, it is necessary to use double doses of Alirin-B and Gamair (40 tablets per 100 m2 of each biological product). With severe withering, it is necessary to irrigate under the root with chemical pesticides according to the following scheme: Previkur (15-20 ml per 10 l of water), after 3-5 days, water the preparation with Fitolavin, VRK (15-20 ml per 10 l of water).

Cucumber is a tropical climate plant that is very sensitive to temperature extremes and does not tolerate frost at all. At temperatures below +15 degrees, it stops growing and is in a state where the accumulated nutrients per day are completely consumed at night only to maintain basic life processes. With a long stay of seedlings at a temperature below +10 degrees, life processes stop and it dies. High temperature is also unfavorable. When +30 degrees is exceeded, the formation of substances that store energy for growth is inhibited. Since in both cases there is not enough energy, the tissues become sensitive to many infections. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain optimal air and soil temperature + 22 ... + 28 degrees

Bacterial Diseases of Cucumbers

Most infections are transmitted by insects, so it is important to monitor their spread and take preventative measures in time. Greenish plaque and yellow spots are signs of peronosporosis

For planting, quality and disinfected seeds are suitable. They should be bought from trusted manufacturers or procured independently, as well as additionally treated with dressing agents (Grandsil and Grandsil Ultra).

In the presence of visible damage to plants, Fusarium infection is already incurable. It is necessary to destroy the affected plants immediately in order to prevent the spread of the fungus Phytolavin-300, 20 g + Fundazol, 15-20 g per 10 liters of water.

There are no effective methods to counter mosaic diseases. It remains to take preventive measures, paying attention to varieties and hybrids resistant to mosaic. For the prevention of disease, only composted or sterilized substrates are used.

Fungal diseases of cucumbers and their treatment

After the use of the drug Fitolavin, both pathogenic organisms and beneficial microflora are destroyed, therefore it is necessary to irrigate Alirin-B and Gamair with biological products (20 tablets per 100 m2 of each biological product).

The soil in the greenhouse can accumulate a huge number of pathogens. Disinfection of the soil is perhaps the most difficult, costly step in measures to prevent and protect the future crop, but soil preparation measures pay off by reducing pesticide treatments during the turn and by increasing the overall yield. often after prolonged rainfall. The disease manifests itself 3-5 days after infection with spores. A white coating appears on the cucumbers only on the top of the leaves. They gradually wrinkle and then dry, seedlings stop in growth and die.

White mosaic is a kind of green. The biological characteristics of the virus are the same, the difference is that there are extensive white patches on the fruits, and a mosaic in the form of asterisks appears along the leaf veins.

Soil moisture.

Pests of cucumbers - gourdsAn enemy that destroys entire fields appears as a greenish bloom and yellow spots on the top of the foliage. It has the property of spreading over the entire surface of cucumbers and infecting growing plants in the immediate vicinity.

Seeds are sown exclusively in heated soil. At a depth of 10 cm, the temperature should be at least 12 degrees Celsius.http: //youtu.be/5_GCf41sVSM

Fitolavin-300, 20 g + Kulfugo Super, 15-20 g per 10 liters of water.

In the case of a relatively weak infection, it is necessary to cut out the diseased areas, and you can limit the spread of the disease of the mosaic of cucumber by spraying with skim milk. However, in case of severe infection, the plant should be destroyed.Preventive measures should be started even before the first signs of the disease appear: spraying on a sheet with a mixture of biological preparations Alirin-B + Gamair (10-20 tablets + 10-20 tablets per 10 liters of water). A.

To disinfect the soil before planting, you can irrigate the soil with a solution of the following drugs: Farmayod-3 (100 ml per 10 liters of water) or 5-10 percent hydrogen peroxide (0.5-1 liter per 10 liters of water). The consumption of the working solution of drugs is 1-2 l / m2.

To combat this disease, sulfur-containing preparations are used, for example, Quadris or Colloidal sulfur. The treatment is carried out prophylactically every 2 weeks and stopped 14 days before harvesting.Viral diseases are often transmitted by seeds. The virus can be neutralized by warming dry seeds before sowing at a temperature of + 50 degrees for three days, and then a day at +70 degrees. If a plant infected with the virus is noticed, then it is immediately torn up with the root, and the soil is watered with boiling water. To exclude infection from weeds, they are destroyed around a cucumber planting at a distance of at least 10 m.

Low soil moisture does not allow nutrients to be obtained, since they enter the roots only in dissolved form. Despite the fact that the formation of cucumbers requires a sufficiently high amount of water in the soil, its overmoistening adversely affects the roots. Water, displacing air from the soil, leads to oxygen starvation of the roots. Infectious diseases of cucumbers are mainly active in water, so roots that are stressed due to lack of air are also prone to damage. It is necessary to maintain optimal soil moisture, which is determined either by a special device - a moisture meter, at the level of 75-85% of the maximum, or "by eye" - the soil in the hands does not crumble under compression and does not smear when rubbed with fingers.

Small pests of cucumbers, ruthlessly destroying ovaries, flowers and leaves, are far from a curiosity for experienced gardeners, especially in rainy seasons. To destroy them, you need to take care of the correct rotation of plantings on the site, dig and disinfect the soil and carefully get rid of weeds.

Diseases of cucumbers in a greenhouse - how to prevent and how to treat

Powdery mildew, also called peronosporosis, can spread rapidly due to frequent fogs, a large amount of dew, too cool watering and temperature changes.

  Post-harvest greenhouse processing

  The soil needs to be loosened and properly fertilized.

Fungal disease caused by the fungus Cladosporium cucumerinum Ellis & Arthur. Favorable conditions for the development of the disease are watering cucumbers in the greenhouse with cold water, high humidity of air and soil, low temperatures and drafts.

To combat gray rot, it is necessary to sprinkle the affected areas with a mixture of copper sulfate and wood ash.

Powdery mildew spreads quickly in cool cloudy weather. Spores are carried by wind or water during irrigation.

  The causative agent of ascochitosis primarily affects weakened plants, therefore, for prevention, it is effective to spray plants with growth regulators Epin (2 ml per 10 l of water), Ecogel (100 ml per 10 l of water), starting with growing seedlings.

After disinfection of the soil, it is necessary to fill the space free of pathogens with useful soil microflora.

Preparation of cucumber seeds for sowing seedlings

  Peronosporosis or downy mildew of cucumbers.

Angular leaf spot

Growing seedlings

Humidity

When the aphids have already attacked the plantings, spraying them with a fermented herbal infusion (1 kg is infused in 10 l of liquid for a day) or a suspension of ash (10 l of water, 50 g of soap chips, 200 g of ash) will help.

Peronosporosis of cucumbers, the treatment of which experts recommend using lactic iodide solution (10 drops per 10 l) or urea (1 g per 1 l), will not interfere with beautiful ripe fruits. The main thing is not to forget about seed disinfection, soil warming and obligatory top dressing.

From the beds you need to remove the remnants of last year's plants, as they may contain insect larvae and viral bacteria.

Preparation of soil before planting seedlings

This disease manifests itself in the form of elongated dry sores with a grayish-olive plaque covering the stems. Light brown spots appear on the leaves, later they are covered with a faint brown coating. The fruits are most affected. At first, oily depressed spots appear on them, then an olive coating develops, various ulcers of irregular shape are formed.

A fungal disease caused by the botrytis fungus (Botrytis cinerea Pers). Disputes are mainly spread through the air, and can also spread with water splashes.

Fungal disease, manifested in the form of a white coating on the leaves. Over time, the amount of plaque increases until it completely covers the leaf, as a result of which photosynthesis is disturbed, the leaf turns yellow and dries.

If there are obvious signs of disease, in addition to using biological products, it is effective to spray with the Strobi (15-20 ml per 10 l of water), or Quadrice (5 ml per 10 l of water) preparations.

1-3 days before transplanting seedlings make the drug Trichocin, SP at the rate of 30 g per 500 m2. The drug is applied by spraying or watering the soil (using drip irrigation), followed by cultivating the soil with a hand cultivator or walk-behind tractor (if the greenhouse is large) to a depth of 15-20 cm.The drug is quickly distributed throughout the beds by capillaries.

Prevention of diseases of cucumbers and their protection during the growing season

The most harmful disease, since the defeat is lightning fast and quite effective means of control are not available. The spores of this fungus have flagella that pierce even thin aluminum foil. For infection, drip-liquid moisture is required. The optimal infection conditions are +18 degrees and 100% relative humidity. Peronosporosis of cucumbers manifests itself in the form of a whitish plaque with a purple tint on both sides of the leaf, which is a hallmark of powdery mildew. Fruits become incompletely colored and tasteless. Leaves turn brown quickly, crops completely die.

. Caused by bacteria that penetrate the stomata of leaves or damage to integumentary tissues. Other plants of the pumpkin family, which can be the reserves of infection, are also affected. The main source of infection is seeds, in which bacteria can survive for about 2 years, and in the soil they quickly die. The incubation period is up to 10 days. Bacteria are carried by air masses and by hands, when caring for beds. The manifestation of the disease begins with the lower leaves, angular brown spots form on the leaves of the cucumbers from the upper part and an oily yellowish bloom from the lower part of the leaf. Affected fruits have small round sores. The leaves gradually dry out, the planting completely dies.

For the growth of cucumbers, an increased humidity of the surrounding air is needed in the range of 75-85%. It is measured with a hygrometer. At relative humidity below 60%, a strong evaporation of moisture from leaves occurs, which consumes a lot of energy, cucumbers begin to grow more slowly, and immunity is weakened. If the air humidity is within 100%, then with sharp temperature fluctuations, droplet moisture - dew may fall out, which is the “gateway” for most infections.

Spider mite breeds in hot weather

  Anthracnose is expressed in yellow-brown spots.

It is important to observe the turnover of crops and plantings (should be alternated with legumes), regularly weed cucumbers, timely eliminate unhealthy plants, and carry out treatment from pests.

To combat cladosporiosis, it is necessary to suspend watering for several days, regularly ventilate the greenhouse, and spray the cucumber with a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid, you can use Oksikhom - 20 g per 10 liters of water.

Biological products for the prevention, treatment of diseases of cucumbers, their properties

The development of this disease is promoted by poor ventilation, high humidity, a sharp drop in temperature, watering with cold rain water.

Spores of the fungus can be carried both by wind and water during irrigation. With a strong degree of infection, spores can remain on the weeds or in the ground.

To combat gray rot, the affected stems are smeared with a mixture of Rovral with chalk (diluted to the consistency of sour cream) in a ratio of 1: 2.

The active growth of the soil fungus Trichoderma contributes to filling the free space, leaving no room for the development of soil pathogens of plant diseases.

Until recently, it was only possible to grow cucumbers of early ripening. Currently cultivation of resistant or tolerant varieties allows you to get a crop even in open ground. In greenhouses, cucumbers are less susceptible to disease during prophylactic treatment with copper preparations and the alternation of preparations of various chemical groups, for example, Strobi, Ridomil Gold, Bravo. Processing stop 30 days before harvest.

The main diseases of cucumbers

Root rot - prevention and treatment

  The use of antibiotics is necessary to combat a bacterial disease, but drugs designed specifically for this do not exist. A single use of penicillin at a concentration of 1 million units is possible. 10 l of water when the first signs of the disease appear.

Mineral nutrition

It settles on the lower sides of the leaves and, entwining them with a thin cobweb, eats juice, which can cause significant damage to all plantings. Hot weather is ideal for tick propagation.

Prevention of ascochitosis and gray rot of cucumber

  Yellow-brown spotting on foliage and pink bloom on the remaining parts of the bushes is most often the result of anthracnose, which develops more with excess moisture. At first, a barely noticeable mucus appears on the culture, however, in the places of its concentration, small ulcers almost always form, which lead to the death of the bush.

Do not forget that cucumber diseases in the greenhouse and their treatment require a thorough approach. In greenhouses, as well as in open gardens, the frequency and rate of fertilizer application are of great importance. It is not recommended to exceed the composition of the elements: urea (6-12 g), superphosphate (approximately 10 g), potassium chloride (approximately 8 g) and ammonium nitrate (not more than 6-7 g) per 10 l of water. Http://youtu.be/xJxaE6scuIw

The disease manifests itself in the form of brown spots on the leaves, rotting stems, and wet brown spots appear on the fruits. With increased humidity, the affected areas are covered with a gray fluffy coating, which contains spores of the fungus, which can be carried by draft, infecting neighboring plants.

Prevention, treatment of powdery and downy mildew

  This disease occurs due to the accumulation of infection, when cucumbers for many years were grown in the same place. Another cause of the disease can be increased humidity in the greenhouse.

The use of biological products until the first signs of disease is able to push the start of plant damage to the maximum.

  Preventive measures to protect the cucumber from the main fungal, bacterial diseases begin from the moment of transplanting.

We hope that the information presented in the article will avoid many diseases of cucumbers and get a high yield.

Treatment of sick cucumbers in a greenhouse

. Top dressing with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium should be carried out once a week during fruiting. With a surplus of nitrogen, plants become effeminate and they are susceptible to infection. With a low nitrogen content, growth is weakened, which reduces immunity.

For prevention, you should properly irrigate the land. Moisture becomes favorable for the spread of most insects, but exclusively dry soil is suitable for the tick. With the destruction of the colonies will allow to cope with garlic or onion infusions (10 l of water and 200 g of husk). Spray the bushes 4 times a season.

The virus is transmitted with inoculum and diseased plants remaining in the ground, while rainy weather and humidity create favorable conditions for pathogenic bacteria.

  • The most dangerous for plants is treatment with improper means and fertilizing with incorrectly selected drugs, so it is important to determine the disease by external signs and know the preventive and therapeutic methods.
  • Fungal disease caused by Colletotrichum orbiculare. Its disputes can spread with the wind, irrigation water, can be carried by insects or on garden tools.
  • For prevention, it is recommended to plant cucumbers at a sufficient distance from each other, avoid getting water on the leaves when watering, and regularly ventilate the greenhouse.

Mosaic disease

To combat powdery mildew, it is necessary to remove the affected leaves and spray the cucumber with a mullein solution: mix 1 liter of liquid mullein with 1 tbsp. l urea, mix well and strain thoroughly.

Spraying plants with a mixture of biological products Alirin-B + Gamair (10-20 tablets. + 10-20 tablets. Per 10 liters of water) + 10 g per 10 liters of urea + Ecogel, BP (100 ml per 10 liters of water) or Narcissus B ( 50 ml per 10 l of water) is not only a good prophylactic, but can also be used to treat the disease when the first signs appear.

Planting seedlings in a permanent place is a great stress for plants caused by a sharp change in conditions. Any stress leads to a decrease in the plant's own immunity - at this moment they are most vulnerable, susceptible to infection by pathogens.

The main sources of any disease of cucumbers in the greenhouse can be seeds, soil, film, greenhouse designs. It is impossible to provide complete plant protection without preventive measures, the integrated use of biological and chemical protective agents. In this article, we will get acquainted with biological products that will protect our cucumbers in the greenhouse from diseases, the rules for processing soil, seeds, and greenhouses to protect plants from diseases.

Called by bacteria under cool conditions. All the aboveground parts are affected, brown patches and a thick gray coating on the cucumbers appear. The disease will spread quite quickly. The period from infection to the onset of symptoms is 3-5 days.

Genetic resistance. A.

Powdery mildew

Whitefly Larvae

To prevent cucumber disease in the greenhouse and in the plots, it is necessary to sow only proven seeds in a sufficiently warm and treated soil. Seeds are best purchased from friends, from official agricultural companies, or procured independently. With anthracnose already proven, treatment of cucumbers from diseases with folk remedies helps:

White rot of cucumbers appears on the stem

The development of this disease contribute to increased humidity and lack of nutrients in the soil. It begins with the defeat of the leaves, they form light brown spots with a rim of a darker color. Spots appear on the shoots, which expand and deepen over time, forming depressed places, then they are bordered by a dark purple or brown rim. Deep ulcers with pink mucus appear on the fruits of the cucumbers themselves.

To combat gray rot, the affected areas are sprinkled either simply with wood ash, or with a mixture of copper sulfate (1 tsp) and wood ash (1 tbsp). After that, the greenhouse is well ventilated.

Even for spraying cucumbers in the greenhouse, you can use a weak solution of potassium permanganate - 1.5 g per 10 liters of water.

Downy mildew or peronosporosis

Of the chemicals against powdery mildew, Quadris preparations (5 g per 10 l of water) are effective. Topaz (5 g per 10 l of water), Tiovit Jet (20-30 g per 10 l of water).

To prevent infection, increase immunity, it is recommended to water the plants with a mixture of Alirin-B + Gamair preparations (2 tablets + 2 tablets per 10 liters of water) during planting or after planting at a flow rate of 10 liters per 10 m2.

Plant health and the prevention of any disease of cucumbers in the greenhouse in the next season must be taken care of in advance - with the elimination of plants in the previous turn.

To cope with the disease, stop watering, ventilate the greenhouse well, lubricate the affected parts with a paste-like mass prepared from Rovral or Euparen multi.

The absence of such genes makes seedlings susceptible to the disease; therefore, it is recommended to use modern varieties of cucumbers that are genetically resistant to common diseases.

Root rot in plants

A microscopic insect moves and lives no more than a day in the air, but manages to lay gluttonous larvae on the deciduous part of the cucumber. They suck juices from the culture, which leads to the development of soot fungus.

A mixture of milk of lime and copper sulphate;

Most often, cucumbers affect leaf diseases, covering over time their shoots, antennae, peduncles and ovary. With white rot, plants are completely covered with mucus and bloom. Infection develops particularly rapidly in greenhouses with thickened stands, high humidity and stagnant air.

In dry weather, cracks appear on the affected areas, and with increased humidity, the stems rot and break. With a strong development of the disease, the entire aerial part of the plant dies.

Another option to combat this disease is a smear with fungicide. For its preparation you will need: 300-340 g of CMC glue, 30-40 g of fungicide and 10 l of water. The mixture must be brought to a pasty state by adding crushed chalk to it.

This is a fungal disease that affects mainly leaves. It appears in the form of yellow spots on top of the sheet, with time the spots turn brown. On the underside of the sheet is a raid of gray-violet color. Over time, the leaves wither, dry and fall.

Against downy mildew (peronosporosis) in the summer and autumn, you can use Quadris (5 g per 10 liters of water), Ordan (30 g per 10 liters of water), Previkur Energy (20 g per 10 liters of water).

  1. With drip irrigation, the norms of Alirin-B and Gamair preparations are 20 tablets each. per 100 m2.
  2. Before the removal of old sterilized plants that are carriers of a whole “bunch” of diseases, pests, it is necessary to spray them with a mixture of fungicides, disinfectants, insecticides (for example, Bayleton + Farmayod-3 + Actellik) or use Climate or “Checkers” to disinfect Fas ”at the rate of 1 checker per 10-20 m3 of the greenhouse.

Gray rot disease

The most common and harmful diseases are caused by spore-forming imperfect fungi. Cucumber has very delicate integumentary tissues, therefore it is easily affected by various types of this infection. To prevent infection from plant debris, cucumber can not be grown for two years in a row in one place.

The presence of infection.

It is difficult to neutralize the whitefly due to its fertility. The methods for removing insects themselves are not so complicated, it is enough to regularly wash off the larvae from the bushes and loosen the soil with the subsequent introduction of peat or humus into it. Spraying with Inta-Vir will help get rid of colonies already gathered on the leaves.

Bleach solution (up to 40 g per 10 l of water).

To get rid of white rot, you need constant temperature control, thinning plantings and timely weeding of weeds. The affected parts of the bushes should be carefully cut, and the wounds should be dusted with ash or slaked lime. With this disease of cucumbers in the greenhouse or in the beds, disinfection of the soil is required (1-2% manganese solution or nettle infusion), and with severe infection, its complete replacement by 10-15 cm in depth. You should also spray crops with a special solution (10 l of water, 2 g of copper sulfate and 10 g of urea).

For prophylaxis, it is necessary to observe the humidity regime in the greenhouse, not to allow sudden temperature changes. If possible, use calcined earth. And as a prophylaxis, you can spray cucumbers in the greenhouse with Oxychom, Kuproksat, or copper chloride.

If none of the methods have helped, the affected areas need to be cut and burned.

The development of this disease contributes to increased humidity and sudden changes in temperature, watering cucumbers with cold water.

White rot (sclerotinia)

It is impossible to imagine a modern plant protection system in greenhouses without the use of biological products: their biological effectiveness when using the recommended technology is high. Proper use of drugs can be an alternative to the use of chemical protective equipment. In favor of the use of biological products in the plant protection system, one can attribute such important qualities as high efficiency in the absence of the possibility of "getting used" to the action of biological products in pathogens of cucumber diseases.

The effectiveness of biological products will increase if you add the immunomodulator Ecogel, BP (100 ml per 100 m2) or Narcissus N (100-120 ml per 100 m2) to them.

The question may arise: why carry out processing of lashes of cucumbers that are thrown away in any case?

Root rot

A disease source requires an infection. They can be the following:

Ants breed aphids on cucumber foliage

Fungal Fusarium Disease

Dark brown and olive spots are a sign of cladosporiosis.

The consequences of root rot

Http://youtu.be/YG-jOH51__A

The stems of cucumbers affected by white rot must be cut, partially removing healthy tissue.

In order to successfully grow cucumbers in a greenhouse, preventing the development of diseases, it is necessary to take into account some factors that lead to weakening of plants, as a result of which they become more susceptible to bacterial, fungal and viral infections. You should consider the most common diseases in cucumbers and methods for their treatment and prevention. Having learned about the most effective drugs, you can decide how to spray the cucumber to prevent the spread of diseases.

Olive spotting (cladosporiosis)

25-30 days after planting, it is necessary to repeat the introduction of Ecogel or Narcissus H biological products, increasing the rate of Alirin-B and Gamair to 30 tablets. per 100 m2.

Elimination treatment is necessary to destroy the breeding ground for diseases, pests, which in the next turn or season will find a way to "fly" into the greenhouses for new plantings.

. Mushrooms are caused that are everywhere in the soil, eating non-living plant debris, healthy seedlings do not affect. They arise only at the moment of weakening of plants, mainly due to the low temperature of the soil below +16 degrees. The root loses live root hairs, becomes covered with a brown coating, leaves and stalk wither.

Plant remains of last year. It is necessary to observe crop rotation or steal the soil of the greenhouse;

Anthracnose or copperfish

These are pests, digging millions of underground tunnels and contributing to the appearance of aphids on leaves and stems.

Many examined diseases of cucumbers and their treatment concerned damage to foliage and stem, from which the plant itself died. Cladosporiosis affects mainly the fruits themselves. Small, but numerous spots of a watery type appear, which quickly grow and harden, which leads to cracking of the skin of the vegetable and its death.

The disease is dangerous for the measles system, since part of the rhizome dies with it, and the stem itself becomes rotten, and the plant dies just before our eyes. Cold weather, heavy and too moist soil and poor quality seeds result in root rot. Almost all diseases of cucumbers of an infectious nature are dangerous in that the pathogen can be quite long in the beds, in greenhouses or in uncleaned plant debris.

In case of infection, it is necessary to carefully remove the affected areas. Spray the cucumbers in the greenhouse with fungicides (copper chloride, Kuproksat, Sandofan M8, Oksikhom, Acrobat MC and similar preparations) 2-3 times with an interval of 10-20 days.

Fungal disease caused by the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. The source of infection is the soil in which spores of this fungus persist and live for a long time.

To combat peronosporosis, it is necessary to remove the leaves affected by the disease, and stop watering. Sprinkle the soil with wood ash, and spray the plants with Topaz solution in the ratio: 1 ampoule per 10 liters of water. The fungicide "Oksikhom" is also suitable: 2 tablets per 10 liters of water.

Diseases of cucumbers photo, description and treatment in a greenhouse, in the open ground

In order to prevent illness in cucumbers in the greenhouse, you need to do the humidity, temperature and the presence of nutrients in the soil.

  • Subsequent application after 25-30 days is carried out with a consumption of biological products 30-40 tablets. per 100 m2. Such a sequence of application will help maintain a high immunity of plants, will create a constant presence of a useful bacterial culture in the root zone.
  • After removing old plants, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the greenhouse from weeds, plant debris and treat the constructions and perennial film with the Farmayod-3 disinfectant (100-200 ml per 10 l of water).
  • When buying seeds, you can see that some of them are already processed and painted in a bright signal color. This is done to destroy part of the infection on the surface of the seeds, and give a noticeable color, which simplifies sowing, as they become more visible. It is usually coated with a coating containing tyram fungicide, which suppresses fungi that cause root rot.

Wild weeds that are carriers. They must be destroyed;

Diseases of cucumbers photos and their treatment: prevention

Fighting them is simple: with the help of sweet baits (syrup) and dusting the ground with ash or lime. Having noticed the nests of ants, you can douse them with boiling water, dig them up or pour plenty of kerosene (used oil is also used).

This ailment is also called olive spotting, which can spread directly through the air, infecting plots with cucumbers during irrigation events or during rains.

  • If you notice that the root rot of cucumbers has begun, treatment is carried out by mulching the bushes with clean sand, peat mix, chalk (limestone) or sawdust. Already infected - it is necessary to ruthlessly cut off and disinfect the soil with dry bleach in the amount of up to 200 g per square meter. It is advisable to use warm irrigation water.
  • Growing cucumbers is a rather troublesome affair. The following conditions must be observed:
  • The development of the disease begins on the basal part of the stem, watery wet spots form there, over time they become covered with a white cotton-like mycelium. Next, the upper tiers of the plant are affected. White rot causes death and wilting of plants, rotting of fruits.
  • After collecting the last crop, it is necessary to conduct treatment with a solution of copper sulfate, dissolving 3 tbsp. l in 10 liters of water. Cucumbers should be sprinkled abundantly, and after 24 hours, remove and burn along with the roots.
  • The main causes of diseases of cucumbers in a greenhouse can be several:
  • Alirin-B (in tablets) is a long-acting bacterial preparation, a biological fungicide. It is effective against root rot, withering of various nature, ascochitosis, anthracnose, powdery mildew, and other fungal diseases of cucumbers.
  • Processing semi-dried plants of cucumbers, disinfecting structures, cleaning off plant debris will save significant funds that can be spent on treating plants in the next season.

Diseases of cucumbers photo of leaves and fruits: treatment and prevention

If the disease began to manifest itself, then it is necessary to increase the temperature of the soil by pouring warm water with the addition of potassium permanganate to a slightly pink color. Stalks, lowered from the support, laid on the ground and sprinkled with soil, to form additional roots.

White rot

Infection inside and on the surface of the seeds. It is necessary to warm the seeds and treat with fungicides before sowing;

Slugs damage mainly leaves, but can also enjoy fruits.

Preventive treatment of cucumbers from diseases is provided by a 15% suspension of Bordeaux mixture. However, the problem may not be completely solved. If the remedies do not help, and infected cucumbers constantly appear, airborne diseases are prevented by reducing humidity and choosing the most resistant varieties.

Root rot

Powdery mildew of cucumbers

Selection of a suitable site;

To prevent infection with a fungus, it is necessary to observe the optimal regime of humidity and temperature in the greenhouse. Since fungal spores can be in the soil, it is necessary to use calcined earth whenever possible, and when transplanting seedlings, potassium permanganate should be added to the wells, dissolving 5 g in 10 l of water.

Powdery mildew

The defeat of root rot contributes to increased humidity in the greenhouse, watering with cold water, planting seedlings in cold soil.

High humidity;

Gamair (in tablets) is a long-acting bacterial drug, a biological bactericide. Effective against bacterial rot, some types of phytopathogenic fungi.

Very often the source of infections that spread rapidly in the soil is unimpaired seeds. The consequences of the development of some seminal infections can occur during the growth and development of cucumbers: wilting plants, spots on leaves, fruits, general loss of crop.

  • White rot or sclerotiniosis.
  • Rains containing spores of pathogenic disease, so it is better to grow in a film or glass greenhouse;

Insects are afraid of daylight, so they choose to enjoy fresh herbs and pulp at night. Dark droppings and characteristic shiny traces from slugs also do not contribute to improving the quality of the crop.

Peronosporosis

Cucumber Disease Photo Leaf Treatment for Fusarium

It is this disease of cucumbers that is considered the most common. Its signs are noticeable not only on the sheets (small spots of white color, gradually covering the entire surface), but also on stems with petioles. The disease stains the whips completely brown, they dry and disappear.

Preparation of seedlings and seed;

To combat white rot with a mild defeat, it is necessary to mix chalk and potassium permanganate with the addition of water and treat the affected areas with the resulting paste. With a severe lesion, it is necessary to remove the affected areas, it is desirable to capture part of the healthy area. Sprinkle the affected stems and places with lime. But if the plant is very sick, it would be better to remove it together with a layer of soil in order to avoid infection of neighboring plants.

Anthracnose

Fungal disease caused by Pythium De Baryanum Hesse. The source of infection is spores that can spread through the air, with splashes of water, as well as through the transfer of insects.

Lack of nutrients in the soil;

Glyocladin (in tablets) is a microbiological fungicide against root rot pathogens. It is highly effective against Fusarium infections, which develop well in organically rich soils.

In the creation of a barrier and counteracting the development of pathogens, the etching of cucumber seeds with biological preparations Alirin-B + Gamair (5 tablets + 5 tablets per 1 liter of water) shows high efficiency.

  • A highly infectious dangerous disease, which manifests itself in the form of white flakes with black dots on all parts of the plant. Soft mucous spots appear on them. The aboveground parts fade and die within 3-5 days. Effective drugs at the moment do not exist. When this disease of cucumbers appears in the greenhouse, it is quarantined with the destruction of all plant debris and soil treatment with steam or its replacement.
  • Seedlings infected nearby. They must be removed immediately and the soil must be decontaminated.

Cladosporiosis

To destroy pests, regular digging of the sites and their pollination with ash or chalk will help. You can also try to lay out special shelters in which the slugs will find refuge, and collect them during the day. It is also recommended to process cucumber beds with Metaldehyde.

This disease can be widespread, and spread by foci in gardens and in greenhouses without proper heating. Fungal diseases of cucumbers affect plantations at various points in their growth. The problem of fusarium is that the infection may not manifest itself externally until the plants enter the fruiting phase, when they begin to wilt and die.

The reasons for the appearance of powdery mildew are almost the same as those that cause other diseases of cucumbers with photos - temperature fluctuations, excessive humidity, an excess of weeds and neglect of plantings. Cold irrigation water, drafts and strong winds can also lead to its development.

Careful care during the period of active growth.

Diseases of cucumbers photo leaf treatment for Fusarium

In the fight against white rot, it is also recommended to use such drugs as Rovral SP and Euparen multi SP manufactured by Bayer.

The development of the fungus is facilitated by planting seedlings in cold soil, sharp fluctuations in temperature and humidity in the greenhouse, watering cucumbers with cold water.

Sudden changes in temperature, including watering with cold water.

  • Trichocin, SP (trichodermin) (powder) is a microbiological fungicide created on the basis of the soil fungus antagonist of the genus Trichoderma. The drug prevents the development, spread of root rot pathogens.
  • Healthy, strong seedlings are a very important stage for the formation of a good crop of cucumbers.
  • Anthracnose. Ascochitosis. Cladosporiosis.

Pests of cucumbers with photos and their treatment. Ways to fight

Having studied the causes of diseases, we turn to their description and control measures.

Gourd aphids

Treatment of various diseases of cucumbers and pest control is not an easy process, but a serious approach to all activities and timely prevention will significantly simplify it and get an excellent harvest as a result.

Fusarium withering of a cucumber whose treatment does not bring proper results, must be prevented even at the planting stage. You can avoid infection:

If powdery mildew has appeared on the cucumbers, measures to combat it will be to trim the affected parts of the stem and disinfect the soil. Recommended Processing:

Spider mite

As a result, all labor can be in vain if the cucumbers are attacked by pests or become ill. In this case, the entire crop can be destroyed. That is why it is always necessary to apply preventive measures when growing.

Fusarium control measures: watering with warm water, soil disinfection, adding trichodermin to the wells when planting seedlings.

It begins to spread from the basal zone, as a result, the lower leaves turn yellow, then the entire whip dries, the roots become covered with brown spots, rot and die, as a result, the plant dies completely.

Whitefly

The development of a mosaic disease is facilitated by sharp fluctuations in temperature, lack of light and moisture in the soil.

After dissolution in water, all biological products can be applied through drip irrigation systems, any type of sprayer. In the working solution, biological products are compatible with mineral fertilizers for foliar top dressing, growth regulators, humates, insecticides. The shelf life of biological products is 2-3 years.

Since pathogens of plants are present in any substrate, to create conditions for normal starting development before sowing, in a seedling pot with a volume of 300-800 ml next to a seed (2-3 cm), you need to make 1 tablet of Gliocladin - a biofungicide based on trichoderma fungus. Simultaneously with the growth of the root, the "cobwebs" of the fungus mycelium will begin to grow, which will gradually fill the entire volume of the seedling pot and displace pathogens.

Ants

These fungal diseases have similar symptoms, mainly brown spots appear on the cucumbers. The affected tissue of the sheet is chipped and holes appear. Affected areas of brown color appear on the fruits. The plant eventually loses its leaves and dies. The spores of these fungi winter on plant debris and are transferred from infected plants to healthy ones by the wind. These diseases have an incubation period and begin to appear 3-7 days after infection.

A feature of these diseases is the presence of a living host carrier. Viruses in the open air do not live very long, but they are easy to transfer during harvesting or forming together with the juice. It differs from other diseases in that the color of the leaves of individual sections in the form of a mosaic changes. In this case, the sheet is deformed, wrinkled, and the manifestation is asymmetrical, which distinguishes them from signs of an overabundance of the use of growth stimulants, which appear almost as well, but symmetrically. Consider the manifestation of the most common viral diseases.

In most cases, infections can be avoided by observing safety measures during planting, proper fertilizer and watering. Follow the recommendations of professional gardeners and harvest a rich harvest.

Slug

Seed dressing;

Ground sulfur up to 30 g for every 10 sq.m. a garden;

Long before planting, one should think about how to treat cucumbers from diseases and pests, since most diseases are not treated and it is easier to prevent them.

Total

Fungal disease caused by fungi of the genus Fusarium. Its source is seeds and soil. The development of the disease contribute to sudden changes in temperature, high humidity and lack of soil nutrition. Weak plants are most susceptible to disease.

Diseases in cucumbers Diseases in cucumbers folk remedies

The cucumber was early and with good care it succeeds early. It delights the gardener along with the first greens and radishes - in the spring.

For this to happen, you need to know the biological characteristics of a juicy vegetable and possible problems.

Cucumber can be sick or attacked by pests.

Craftsmen learned to resist them.

Powdery mildew

Malicious dew can destroy cucumber plants quickly and completely.

It is easy to recognize it: the leaves are as if sprinkled with flour. For this disease and the name was given: "powdery."

White plaque captures the sheet, spreading superficially. Leaves turn yellow, dry.

Leaf petiole, fruit and stalk are almost not covered with plaque.

Plaque is a growing mycelium of a pathogenic fungus, a disease of a fungal nature.

The cucumber is strongly affected in conditions favorable for the fungus. The mushroom loves moisture, shadow, coolness.

If spring - summer stood out like this, fungal diseases cause additional trouble for the gardener. And they deprive most of the crop.

Powdery mildew of cucumbers almost does not leave.

The surviving fruits are deformed.

Downy mildew

The disease is also called peronosporosis. The leaves are covered with small yellowish spots - the first sign of another fungal ailment of cucumbers.

The spots increase rapidly, the leaves dry. The bottom plate of the sheet is covered with a dark coating.

Help is urgent, treatment of cucumbers will require the same means as for powdery mildew and other fungal diseases.

Cladosporiosis

Diseases of cucumbers are more often of fungal origin, this is facilitated by a humid atmosphere and temperature conditions.

Cladosporiosis is more of a greenhouse disease, although it also occurs on unprimed crops.

The whole plant is affected: stems, fruits, petioles, leaves.

First, the stems suffer. They ulcerate, places of damage are filled with olive plaque.

Angular spots appearing later on the leaves are also covered with a touch of olive color.

Therefore, the disease is also called olive spotting. Near the veins, the diseased tissue crashes. Leaves dry.

The main "blow" cladosporiosis inflicts on the fetus. Concave spots - ulcers - with the same bloom quickly increase on cucumbers.

The ovaries are bent, the fruits are underdeveloped.

Angular leaf spot

The disease in appearance is reminiscent of cladosporiosis.

Also affects all aboveground parts of the cucumber plant. It affects even cotyledons.

The spots are yellow-brown, as in cladosporiosis (at the beginning). And the angularity appears.

But diseases are caused by various pathogens, although both are fungi.

It is possible to distinguish, make a diagnosis to the plant by the state of the lower plate of the leaf, by its appearance.

Angular spotting - bacteriosis - causes the formation of exudate, sticky yellow droplets from the bottom of the sheet.

This is a repository of infection, hence bacteriosis spreads further.

With olive spotting, the bottom of the leaf with a dark coating of the mycelium of the fungus. This is a characteristic difference.

The nature of angular spotting is bacterial, therefore the second name is bacteriosis. The fruits are bent, ulcerated, rot.

It is advisable to exclude irrigation by irrigation if there is bacteriosis in the area. Such watering helps the infection spread.

Bacterial diseases require gardener efforts to protect the crop:

  • Infection can hide in the seeds - collect seeds by inspecting the fetus. It must be intact.
  • Warm the seeds before sowing: they will withstand 60 ° in the oven. Put them in this “sauna” for three hours, the seeds will be disinfected from all infections.
  • The potassium permanganate solution will cope with the scourge lurking inside the seeds in 15 minutes. Make weak, pink. Dry the seeds after.
  • Remove dried lashes and leaves in autumn. Burn this material - bacteria settle there for wintering.
  • In the earth, the infection also remains. Dig deeply: let the bacteria freeze.
  • Disinfect wooden parts of greenhouses and hotbeds by whitewashing.
  • Bacteriosis, like fungus, is afraid of copper. Therefore, Bordeaux liquid, preparations with copper (ordan, kurzat P 44) will come in handy. Spraying at the first sign of an angular spotting is an effective disease inhibiting method.

Sclerotinia

White rot of cucumbers (sclerotinia) is another fungal disease that “eats” the plant completely, even the roots.

Under cover, this is a disaster. It is easy to recognize white rot by white flakes of mycelium. They cover infected stems, leaves, and reach the fruits.

The mushroom destroys the cucumber plant, softens it, causes rot.

The infection lives in the soil, and during the growth period the plants infect each other mechanically.

The fungus is also transported by air.

If the disease is noticed immediately, try to save the cucumber plants.

Lubricate the stalks with settled mycelium with the composition: sumix, chalk (equally) - mix, diluting with water until a paste is obtained.

Varieties resistant to sclerotinia: Telegraph, Harvest 1596. Fruitful 147 is good for greenhouses, but its resistance to white rot is less.

Root rot

After wintering, spores of the fungus settle first on the roots of the cucumber.

Externally, the gardener can notice something was wrong by detecting yellowing of the lower leaves - the infection comes from below. The whip withers, dries out.

Having pulled out a plant, one can see: the roots are rotting, they are covered with brown spots, they have become unviable.

When the root dies - nutrition is impossible, the plant dies.

The causes of the disease are common to all fungal, the distribution is similar. Soil, mechanical transfer of spores, their transfer through the air, with irrigation, spread by insects.

Gray rot

The manifestation of the disease is similar to other fungal infections.

Leaves covered with brown spots, rotting stems. Fruits covered with brown wet spots.

The difference is in the color of the plaque, it is gray, which gave the name to the type of rot.

There are almost no female flowers of cucumber with gray rot, and male flowers are numerous. They quickly rot, spreading the disease.

In addition to general antifungal measures, sore spots are dusted with ash. Copper sulfate can be mixed with ash - 5 g of vitriol and a glass of ash.

Ascochitosis

The disease of all regions is for cucumber. Hothouse conditions are a paradise for fungus, and cucumber begins to develop in the spring - under cover.

Even in the south, an early harvest without seedlings can not be obtained. And she is raised in greenhouses. Or sow a cucumber in greenhouses.

Another option: sown under the film, under cover by it in arcs.

Shelters save from the cold, but more annoying diseases of cucumbers. In summer, plants suffer less if the season is dry, hot.

Ascochitosis is also rot. Begins destructive work from the stem, appearing as spots.

The color of the spots changes from green to brown, then turns white. The stalk is cracking.

Later leaves become stained, leaf tissue dries. The fruits rot, their flesh turns brown.

Ascochitosis is selective: it settles on weakened plants. Mushroom winters in seeds, plant debris, soil.

Anthracnose

Forms stem ulcers, elongated in length. The stems break.

The defeat of the leaves is similar to other fungal: oval yellow (sometimes brown) spots, prone to cracking, chipping.

It is easier to distinguish anthracnose by the defeat of the ovaries: there are many small, rapidly growing pinkish spots subsequently merging.

The fruits deteriorate, many plants die. The biology of the fungus is similar to ascochitosis.

Fusarium wilt

If the leaves or tops of cucumber lashes, growth points, wilt, wither - look at the surface of the stem emerging from the soil.

With fusarium wilting, rot forms there.

When the cucumber blooms, the basal part of the stem and roots become brown, become covered with cracks, rot.

The internal vessels of the stem are affected, and their brown color is visible on a break or slice.

At high humidity, the basal part is covered with a pink coating of fungus. The disease is transmitted from the soil or from the seeds.

White mosaic

Diseases of cucumbers that cause a mosaic in the color of the leaf are of a viral nature.

Wrinkling and mosaic leaf spot occurs at the age of one month.

It begins to bear fruit, the leaf is covered with white stars (sometimes yellow).

The virus spreads rapidly, the fruits are covered with white stripes.

It is important to destroy aphids: it carries the viral diseases of the cucumber. The white mosaic is also transmitted through the seeds.

Green speckled mosaic

The green mosaic of cucumber has several names. She is speckled, and English.

Viral disease, mostly greenhouse. The first weeks (up to a month) may not manifest itself.

When warming, quickly forms external signs. Leaves are deformed, wrinkled, veins are clarified.

The fruits are bitter, short, speckled. They are deformed, mosaic. The spots are necrotic.

Once noticed, the virus can be stopped by treatment with a milk-iodine solution.

A liter is taken on a bucket of water - milk, 50 g of iodine. Periodic spraying inhibits the disease, preserves the crop almost completely.

The virus is afraid of iodine, milk softens the effect on the leaves, increases adhesion.

Cucumber Leaf Burn

Old leaves darken, becoming grayish. First, these are small spots, their shape is diverse.

Growing, the spots merge, their tissues die. There is a brown border in the place of the fallen fabrics.

The young leaf is affected later and less.

Weakened, damaged plants are chosen by the fungus in the first place.

A burn spreads through infected seeds, plant debris left under the winter.

Macrosporiosis (Brown spotting)

The fungus forms white spots on the leaves with a light halo.

When the spots, increasing, merge, the leaves die off. A dark plaque of conidia is visible on them.

In wet, cool summers, half the crop is lost. The disease is harmful; work is underway to select varieties that are less susceptible to macrosporiosis.

Fungal Disease Prevention

Most cucumber diseases are fungal. The fight against fungi of different types is carried out according to a verified scheme.

Differences (if any) are given in the characterization of the disease.

It is important to carry out prophylaxis. Do not give the mushroom comfortable conditions:

  • Sow cucumbers so that they do not shade each other. It is better to raise the lashes on the supports, on the trellis. Then basal moisture will not evaporate the air around the sheet by evaporation.
  • With greenhouse cultivation, the temperature must be maintained above 18 °. The fungus that provokes the disease does not like this. Its development stops.
  • The soil overfed with nitrogen is good for fungal diseases. Not only mineral nitrogen, organic is also attractive to them. Manure is rich in nitrogen. The balance is important - everything is in moderation. Cucumber manages to manure better. But the danger of powdery mildew is higher.
  • Preventive measure - compliance with crop rotation. Spores of the fungus wait patiently for the next host in the soil - up to three years. In the fourth year you can sow there. Summer cottages are small, it is not always possible to observe this. It is all the more difficult to avoid overgrowth in greenhouse conditions. An alternative to crop rotation is soil disinfection. In the greenhouse spill the surface layer with boiling water. You can - a strong (bright pink) solution of potassium permanganate. The fungus dies, the beneficial microflora also suffers, but it will recover, rise from the lower soil layers. The fungus does not penetrate deeply.

If the fact is already on the sheet: you notice a raid, make a diagnosis - fight.

Plants can be defended. Treatment of cucumbers to the summer resident is possible.

Try to get around the safe means at hand.

Cucumber treatment: folk methods

Sour-milk spraying. Yogurt, homemade kefir, fermented baked milk - a medium for beneficial sour-milk bacteria.

Dilute them with water in an arbitrary proportion. Treat the solution with cucumber plot.

The mushroom will not stand, useful flora will destroy it.

In case of severe damage or for prophylaxis, the treatment is repeated once a week. Homemade serum also helps.

Herbal overdoses. Weeds can help heal plants and feed them at the same time.

For the preparation of fermented infusions, a place of capacity is allocated (from the pan to the barrel, if desired) on the site.

After weeding the grass, send it to the barrel, add water. Gradually the barrel is filled (half or two thirds of the volume is enough).

In warm weather, the contents are fermented. The smell is unpleasant, it is better to cover the container.

If necessary, take the infusion, treat the culture against the fungus, filtering the resulting liquid.

Fungal diseases of cucumbers will recede.

Soap and Soda. Components at hand, effective. The fungus is afraid of them.

On a bucket of water: food soda - two tablespoons, laundry soap - 50 g.

Spray weekly, after rains - repeat.

Manure infusion. Overfeeding cucumber with manure helps the development of the fungus.

But the same manure used in spraying cucumber cures for fungal diseases.

Pour one part of the manure in a suitable container with two parts of water.

After three days of infusion, use the filtered liquid in the processing.

Pre-dilute with water: one part of the infusion and ten - water.

Dusting gray. Ground sulfur, possibly fodder, is poured into a sieve and pollinated by leaves of cucumber.

Choose sunny, dry, warm day.

Ash. Dusting the leaves with ash stops the development of the fungus.

Potassium permanganate. Dissolve a few grains of potassium permanganate in a liter of water.

It will turn out a solution of saturated raspberry color. From it, take the amount necessary to stain the main solution required for processing in a pale pink color.

Spray cucumbers with a working solution.

Garlic. Clean the two middle heads, grind. Pour water in a liter jar.

Dilute with a bucket of water every other day. The solution is ready.

Zelenka. You can add the processing of cucumber plots with green.

It is convenient to prepare the solution by measuring the green with a 5 ml syringe.

Having collected a full syringe, we release the contents into a bucket of water. The solution is ready.

Chemicals

  • Fungal diseases are "taken" with preparations containing copper. Bordeaux liquid, copper sulfate, and ordan (copper chloroxide combined with the chemical derivative of urea cymoxanil) are suitable.
  • The modern drug ridomil is absorbed into the plant tissue, destroys the fungus from the inside. At the same time acts outside, adheres well. Leaf holds him for two weeks.
  • Phytoflavin. The drug is combined, acts in addition to fungal - on bacterial diseases. The action is complex, double: contact (affects the pathogen by directly contacting it) and systemic (it is absorbed into the plant’s tissues and “works” with the infection there). Recommended by experts, tested and approved by summer residents. It has an additional stimulating effect on the growth of cucumber (the whole plant), and is environmentally friendly. Excerpt in terms after processing before consumption - two days. For a cucumber, this is a find, he quickly ripens, the gardener will collect the overgrown fruits. The use of other drugs will not give such a profitable opportunity.

Irregular shape of cucumbers

It's nice when the crop looks "like a cucumber." But sometimes the gardener sees: the cucumber let us down.

Fruits can take on the most bizarre forms. Such a vegetable is neither sold nor pickled: it looks ugly.

Why does this happen? These are non-infectious abnormalities.

Curved cucumbers. The hooked shape of the fruit indicates: disturbed agricultural technology.

If cucumbers are always sown in a "favorite" place, without crop rotation, they stop loving this place.

There is a unilateral removal of nutrients, infections of this culture are accumulating in the soil.

The plant suffers - it signals fruit defects. Constrictions are formed, a "cucumber with a belt" may form.

The predecessor should not be the same family - pumpkin. Otherwise, the diseases are common, and the need for food, too.

The soil is depleted, the cucumber will not have the necessary elements.

Parthenocarpic varieties - self-pollinators. Neither bees nor bee pollinated neighbors need them.

The summer resident is not always aware: such a neighborhood is harmful to parthenocarpics. Foreign pollen gets on them, the variety loses its purity, the fruits can be deformed.

Irregular watering can also affect the shape of the fruit.

Cucumbers love the constancy of the temperature regime. When he hesitates, fruit growth is also spasmodic. This unevenness distorts the shape of the fetus.

Dense plantings give a similar result.

Pear-shaped fruits. Pollination problems. Either bees did not work much (on bee pollinated plants), or the bees worked on parthenocarpic varieties.

Ordinary varieties should be placed next to honey bees that are attractive to bees.

Parthenocarpic try to protect: even gauze shelter will help. It is better to have a special non-woven fabric.

Spicy fruit and mild flavor. This happens from:

  • Overfeeding with nitrogen (mineral or as part of manure, compost);
  • Lack of light - dense plantings;
  • Interruptions with watering;
  • From heat, dry air.

Twin cucumbers. The intergrown cucumbers are a consequence of extreme situations transferred in the "cucumber childhood".

Heat, cold, drought, excess moisture, temperature changes - stress for plants.

This violates the normal formation of the fruit, the ovaries next to each other can grow together.

"Empty" cucumbers.  Voids occur when:

  • There is no nutritional balance. An excess of nitrogen amid a lack of other macro- and micronutrients. The habit of planting a cucumber "for manure" is fraught with voids of fruits. Compost is preferred.
  • There is a problem of regular watering. Irregular is the cause of voids.
  • Viral diseases also provoke the formation of hollow fruits.

  - early ripening vegetable. But not easy. One and a half - two months of cucumber vegetation, the gardener will have to look closely at his condition.

Timely take action, be an "ambulance" to the plant. Feed on time, not be late - give watering, notice something was amiss according to the first signs.

But the worries will pay off: the cucumber is a grateful plant. A good owner, he will enjoy a healthy harvest.

See you soon, dear readers!
